“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
The core beliefs of Farmington Church of the Nazarene are firmly rooted in the foundational truths of Scripture. These essential doctrines guide and inform all aspects of our teaching, ministry, and mission, serving as the biblical framework for everything we do.
God
There is one true and eternal God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the sovereign Creator of all things, both visible and invisible, and alone is worthy of all of our worship, glory, and praise. God is holy and perfect in all His ways—abounding in love, mighty in power, righteous in justice, and rich in mercy. He is all-knowing, all-wise, and unchanging, the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Revelation
God has graciously revealed Himself to humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ. He has further disclosed His divine truth through the Holy Scriptures, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and through the wondrous testimony of all creation, declaring His eternal glory and majesty.
The Bible
The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, composed by human authors who were guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit. It encompasses both the Old and New Testaments, which together contain all the essential truths needed for salvation, faith, and spiritual growth. These Scriptures provide the foundation and direction for living a life fully devoted to Christ, equipping believers to grow in grace, truth, and obedience.
Mankind
Human beings, both male and female, are created in the divine image of God, reflecting His glory and purpose. However, as a result of the Fall through the original sin, humanity inherited a fallen nature, which inclines individuals toward sin and separation from God. Yet, through sincere repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, who offers forgiveness and redemption, mankind can be restored and reconciled to God, receiving the gift of salvation and new life in Him.
Salvation
Jesus Christ came to reconcile humanity with God, bridging the gap caused by sin. He lived a sinless life and willingly sacrificed Himself on the cross to bear the full penalty for our transgressions. In His resurrection, God demonstrated His victory over death and sin, offering by grace the free gift of eternal life to all who, through faith, receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This atoning sacrifice is sufficient for all people; whoever sincerely repents and places their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ is justified, spiritually regenerated, and delivered from the power and dominion of sin.
The Church
The Church is the visible and living Body of Christ, called and commissioned to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Believers are called to publicly profess their faith through baptism and to unite with the church community through formal membership, affirming their commitment to fellowship and spiritual growth. The Holy Spirit testifies both to the new birth and to the entire sanctification of believers, enabling them to live holy lives. Sanctification, which follows regeneration, is a continual process accomplished through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is essential for believers to grow in their knowledge of faith and deepen their Christian walk in order to overcome the spiritual and practical challenges of life. Mutual accountability and the sharing of faith are foundational to personal spiritual growth and the effective witness of the Church. We warmly invite you to join our church family, embracing both the personal relationships and the spiritual journey that come with being part of the Body of Christ.
Resurrection
Jesus Christ WILL return in glory and power. This glorious return will bring the final fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan, establishing the fullness of His eternal kingdom on earth. At His coming, Christ will execute righteous judgment, reward the faithful, and bring ultimate restoration and justice, ushering in a new heaven and a new earth where God’s presence dwells fully with His people forever.
